BootROM

BootROM for permanently storing startup diagnostic code (ROM Monitor) is used. The main task for the router is BootROM diagnosis lead some hardware during launch on the Power On Self Test (POST) to Flash and download the Cisco IOS software from the memory.

Flash

Flash memory is a nonvolatile memory that does not lose the information stored by the power off. are flash memory comes in many formsin routers, internal flash, external flash card or USB flash cards.

Flash is for the permanent storage of a full Cisco IOS software image used in compressed form. In Juniper's JUNOS router Flash saves the image and configuration files.

Juniper router also has an internal hard drive stores a backup copy of the JUNOS image, log files and all other necessary files.

RAM

RAM is volatile memory type of memory in which information is stored losttension. RAM stands for Random Access Memory, where the word refers to accidental that the stored data can be accessed by all. RAM can be SRAM or DRAM. DRAM is used in more applications for the simplicity of the structure and lower cost.

RAM is used during the period for executable code operating system and its subsystems, routing tables, caches, "Running Configuration", packages, and so on.

NVRAM

NVRAM stands for nonvolatile RAM and isused to describe all types of RAM stored data is not lost by power off. NVRAM for writeable permanent storage of the startup configuration in Cisco routers used.

Reasons and solutions for a PC on reboot Keeps

Posted by admin on June 26th, 2010

Have you had any problems like turning on the computer, only a few moments before the desktop is visible starts, it automatically? Problems such as these, in which a computer experience endless reboot is usually caused by a computer virus. The signs are clear. Your machine shut down for no reason at all, even without touching the keys on your keyboard.

Although situations like this is often a computer virus, which has most successfully penetrated the fault of yourComputer hard drive, there are other reasons. To know the real problem, which cover things one after another, create a checklist to find out what's going on.

To determine the computer problems specifically and carefully, make a checklist like the one I listed the below:

(A) Check the computer power supply

(B) Check the CPU for dust particles or dust cake

(C) Check for viruses and worms by trusted antivirus

(D) Check the memory andComputer Hardware Other Stuff

Apart from computer viruses, bad power supply is the reason why a few times to restart your computer that experiences repeated again. The common situation would be in the supply of one bad experience, the computer is switched off the PC once in a while, then it seems okay for a few hours, but suddenly the computer restarts and over again. Check your power supply when enough electricity to have run your computer at homeefficiently. Another offender recurring computer is to restart the dust. If dust particles settle on your CPU, in which many of them are encrusted start below the CPU fan, would you restart your computer into unexpected. According to computer experts, this is the usual cause of problems, especially for newer computers with 1 GHz CPU and above. Those kind of computers run very hot, so they need good aeration. More air promotes dust to settle on your CPU, and someCorners in the interior such as the CPU fan. To fix the problem, you should clean your CPU periodic review at least once a year and the dust. Computer hardware problems may also be other causes of experiencing this kind of problem. Maybe your PC is bad memory or bad video card, does not make the operation of the computer.

Also try rebooting your computer in Safe Mode. If the problem persists, the cause may install the software on your computer. If not, theSoftware, then other reasons for failure could be booting the newly installed drivers. In order to solve the problem, try restoring the system if you use Windows XP. Also, try Window Registry Cleaner. Maybe your windows registry is, because some unnecessary files stored on the hard disk is full. Ask for help from computer experts like those people you find in the stores next computers or computer equipment hubs. Computer experts, the doctors of the hospital computers. FiguringIdentify a problem and solutions to this problem is easy for them. If you think you can not with computer problems all alone there are computer experts to help you.

Optimize PC performance – useful knowledge about Virtual Memory

Posted by admin on June 24th, 2010

Have you ever heard of virtual memory if not, this is the items that will help you learn some useful knowledge about it can. If you've heard that you can also useful methods to deal with it get.

So-called virtual memory means that the system is regarded as certain hard disk space memory when the physical is inadequate. But since the transmission speed of the disk is much slower than the store, so it's not as fast for you to use it.You should set up a virtual computer memory according to the size of the store and use. If you set the value too large, it may be many fragments and affect the speed of the computer to produce serious, if too small, it is far from using the system and then you will recall, it is too low.

In the standard condition, allow Windows to allocate virtual memory automatically. It can adjust memory usage based on the actual dramatic. It is usually a half to three times asthat the physical memory. And the minimum value is one and a half times or two times and two before three be maximized.

And I advise you not to put it where you and set the system partition in the same row. Memory is changing dramatically. Sun disk fragments are easily created in the C drive and influence on system performance speed. Therefore, you had better disc set virtual memory in larger, that you often do not use, such as D, or E-disks. Thus, the hourlyRead / write operations may impede on the hard drive speed up the system. As a result, it is a must for you have set it as follows. As for the attitude that you right-click "My Computer" – "Properties" – "Advanced" – "Performance" and click on "Advanced." To change the virtual memory configuration, you can hard disk C to D and select "Customize" to perfect value for your computer.

Troubleshooting Computer Freeze (Lockup) Problems

Posted by admin on June 16th, 2010

How familiar does the following sound? My computer was good, but then suddenly spontaneously blocking (aka hanging or freezing), rebooting itself (crashing) or shutting down? If you know only too well what I speak, then read on! Performing the simple steps below can fix the majority of lockup cases.

1st Check for newly installed software or hardware.

When the trailer started to happen, after you install a new piece of hardware, and new softwareProgram or new driver, uninstall it and see if the problem disappears.

2nd Run your antivirus program.

One of the first things to do in case of sudden closures, run your antivirus program. Check your antivirus manufacturer's website for updates and the latest virus definitions. (This is absolutely necessary to go is outdated antivirus is not to be of use!) If you installed any antivirus software – or if updates are available – they must have a the web-based antivirusScans that some major antivirus vendors like Trend Micro are offering for free. You will find a comprehensive list of available Web based scans and free antivirus programs on http://www.free-antivirus.info.

3rd Run some good anti-spyware tool.

If your computers are not infected with viruses, it is still possible that there is some harmful adware or spyware is present. Download and run some good anti-spyware tool such as AdAware or Microsoft AntiSpyware. Checkhttp://www.free-antivirus.info for a list of free anti-spyware applications.

4th Check for free disk space.

If no viruses are found, check out free hard disk space on drive C:. Make sure there are more than 20% free space available, low disk space can cause random closures.

5th Check for overheating.

Overheating is another known cause of lockouts. It can be caused by problems with fans inside the case, dust accumulation or other problems with the cooling. Make sure that thePower supply fan and CPU fan running and free from dust buildup. You can use the temperature inside the housing by Motherboard Monitor
http://mbm.livewiredev.com
– Make sure the temperature is within the preset limits. Be very careful when cleaning inside the computer case (with plastic vacuum crevice tool) and NEVER open the housing of the power supply, because it contains high voltage.

6th Check the hard disk.

Check the hard disk – it is possible that its logical structuredamaged. To check the disk for errors, right-click the C: drive icon in My Computer, select the Tools tab check ", all the check boxes in the" Check disk options "field, and press the" Check Now "button. It should ask if you want the computer to check your plan to restart – "yes" answer next, and restart your PC. The check will be conducted after the launch automatically, it may take a while, so be patient. The program is trying to fix some problems automatically -However, if the hard drive physically failing is that it will have to be replaced. There is also a good idea to run Disk Defragmenter (Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools) to optimize data placement on disk for increased performance and reliability.

7th Check the memory.

Sometimes accidental lockouts can not be attributed to a computer memory (RAM) from. You can test the memory with Windows MemoryDiagnosis, which can be downloaded from http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp. If memory problems are found, try again the seating RAM (pull it out and plug it back in). If it does not work, replace the defective RAM.

8th Check for other hardware problems (advanced).

Other hardware problems by running hardware tests from the Ultimate Boot CD that can be downloaded http://www.ultimatebootcd.com be diagnosed. However, you should use only if you know whatare you doing – some programs on the CD can be dangerous if inappropriate (for example, used some of them can wipe the contents of your hard drive).

9th Windows Update and drivers.

Some trailers can be caused by outdated software components caused – Update your windows and drives by using a Windows Update: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (it's a good idea, they run regularly).

The above steps are in the diagnosis and eliminate the most common causes of road closures. Hundreds moreother possible scenarios need to be treated with a product from case to case, how is everything on your particular computer configuration. Asking on PC
Troubleshooting forums / newsgroups to help you figure out solutions to not-so-obvious lockup cases.

RAM can speed up my computer?

Posted by admin on June 9th, 2010

Many people are PC looking for ways to accelerate their. And by RAM seems to be a sensible option. To answer the question: Yes, you can speed up your computer's RAM. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Everything you do with your computer uses RAM.

The amount of RAM is used depends on the type of running program. Here is how it works. All operating systems like Microsoft Windows, a component called the Virtual Memory Manager VMM. Running aProgram like a Web browser or instant messenger solves your computer's microprocessor to load an executable file on your RAM. For larger programs, this is normally up to 5 megabytes of RAM. Also, the microprocessor uses shared DLLs, or dynamic link libraries, which can range 20-30 megabytes of RAM.

Most users ever open programs. For example, when researching, you might have run a word processor, while with multiple Internet browsers forResearch. Sometimes the music player is also running. This adds up the RAM used. If you have more RAM than what your currently installed in appliance, then you are certainly experience a slower speed PC.

In this case, all you have to do is increase your RAM. To find out how much RAM you add to your hardware, you must first have to find out how much RAM you already have. If you do not know your RAM status, right-click My Computer and select Properties. Select the tab "General"and various information, including RAM, is displayed. Then press and hold control alt delete, go to the Task Manager. In the Processes tab, you will see how much RAM you use for a particular program. Add this up and you will the number of RAM you have. Calculate the deficit of your installed RAM. This is more or less, give you an idea of how much RAM you need.

Adding RAM is a cheap alternative to speed up your computer to buy a brand new unit faster forward. And whileYou're at it, perhaps you could consider buying an external hard drive. This is for the storage and transmission of important files that you do not use often useful. Keeping only regularly used files on your hard drive can do more room PC, the results faster.

Aside from adding RAM to speed up other ways your computer constantly more space on your hard drive. Uninstall and remove unwanted programs eat, as there is room, you can use for something else. ClearYour internet cache of temporary files and offline content, each often like that.

If you do not have the budget to upgrade your hardware such as RAM, you can employ certain techniques to maximize your current RAM capabilities. Make sure you only open the programs you need. Avoid unnecessary open programs or software. This will lead to less RAM usage, giving you a faster PC speed and less headaches and disappointment, slow PC that can bring.

Skype VoIP Service – How it works

Posted by admin on June 8th, 2010

Today, with over 350 million registered users, Skype is the world's most popular Voice over Internet Protocol – VoIP service. Skype was started in 2003 and it began by obtaining from PC to PC calls to its users and 2006 had a record 100 million Skype users.

With the advent of Skype, communication barriers were broken so many Internet users make more long distance calls over the Internet without worrying about the cost, as it would have beenWhen using the regular telephone services. Skype allows its users to make calls from PC to PC for a monthly fee often lower than what they had to pay services, with the normal telephone.

Skype users can make free calls anywhere in the world, so long as the person you want to call it is also using Skype. This therefore requires users to arrange to meet at a certain time online, make the call via Skype.

Skype also enables users to knowthe availability and willingness to communicate to the person they communicate. This means that if a contact is online, they can allow this fact to show their friends to know on Skype, that they are available and to communicate with it. Likewise, if they are offline, their Skype friends made aware of this and may try it at a later date if they meet again online.

With Skype, users can include local and international calls to mobile phones and landlinesthrough the PSTN networks. Users can also make calls from this PSTN networks via their computers, which is not free, but is still cheaper compared to regular mobile and fixed line tariffs for calls to receive. The service for incoming calls via Skype, the service called SkypeIn and Skype for calls outside is known as SkypeOut.

To use Skype, you will have the following requirements:

o A complete PC with good speed and memory
o A good Internetsuch as broadband connection
o A sound card
o A headset or speakers and microphone
o Download the free Skype software from Skype.com

The popularity of Skype means that users will be able to trace so many of their friends and colleagues about the service. It is possible, unlimited free calls to contacts who also enjoy using Skype. Skype can be used for family members for various things, including long-distance calls, which calls for companies holding long-distanceConferences, remote monitoring activity for low-cost calls while in transit and just for socializing with friends.

Skype users in the world can be found in almost every country. This is because Skype was developed to facilitate clear and consistent calls over the Internet. There is even a Skype user groups formed all over the world, with some of the largest corporations in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Computer Memory and Slow PC Performance

Posted by admin on May 30th, 2010

I have problems with slow performance on my Dell PC. It has only 256 MB of RAM and I am considering upgrading, but it seems to be slower than it was before. Before the memory upgrade, I want to ensure that no other problems. I have run software to clean the registry and I'm on my antivirus and spyware protection software current. One thing I noticed is that the paging file seems to always be maxed pretty close. Is this a sign that I need moreMemory or is there another option to free up memory. I am also curious about programs when I start to open the computer. Is there a set of "default" applications, which I expect to see, are to run in the background?

Answer: If your Dell computer has an Intel Celeron processor in it, this could be the problem because they have a tendency to deteriorate over time. If you DO have a Celeron-based computer, I would seriously consider purchasing a new PC.

256MB could be OK inYour system if you do not do much multi-tasking. As you know, your page file is only one block of space on your hard drive, use your system as an additional RAM – and it is really slow when it is used. To avoid this, keep tuned to your computer.

I mean, you keep running background programs to a minimum, keep the junk files from your hard drive clean, and keep your files defragmented.

1st Background removal, adding programs 'msconfig' option 'Selective Startup', go to your StartReiter and UN-checking everything except your registry exam and your malware protection programs.

2nd Junk files reside in many places, and the best way of dealing with them is with a small program called Window Washer from web root. A program called Window Washer will clean all the dead files (temps, backups, etc.) from your system. If you do not have, use Windows Explorer and delete everything in your temp, recycle "Temporary Internet Files and folders.

3rd Defrag from thePrograms – Accessories – System Tools folder to optimize your data and run things faster.

All problems are either connected to the computer software or hardware. If you really clean and optimize your software database (including complete virus and spyware scans), then comes the hardware. Dell builds is usually a good box and the PIV is a solid processor. I do not, therefore, the chances of a hardware problem with a degrading motherboard (the first thing you have it) veryhigh.

Therefore suggest you continue the software for process optimization. You did not mention a spyware program so if you do not, I recommend the free AVG program (just log in and download avg.com. I also have great luck with the AVG anti-virus program and how it was and the try new Norton software. Only do not run two antivirus programs together. You can, however, install as many anti-spyware programs, side-by-side, as you like. In fact, I highly recommend asmost of them look in different places for the "invaders" in your system.

More memory to make my PC faster?

Posted by admin on May 24th, 2010

Yes and No. .. One of the best upgrades you can perform on your computer
is to add additional memory (RAM). Especially if it starved of RAM, of course, if your computer
RAM is starved, depends on your operating system. But hold that thought … We will, as
much RAM is needed in the next section.

Yes, you will usually cause RAM to run your computer faster and feel
but only up to a point. PC experts say that increasing your RAM from64Megabyte (MB)
to 128 MB will be about a 50 percent performance improvement.

So why not just continue to add more RAM? Well, for starters, how much
RAM can be will be dependent on the capabilities of the computer to add. Some computers
(Older) not able to handle that additional 512 MB of RAM. This is because the older system
Board (motherboard) and the "Basic Input Output Systems (BIOS) were not written to accommodate
more than 512 MB of RAM. Many newerComputers to more than 1Gigabyte (GB).

Yes it is true that you expect to 50percent of a performance gain
when you go from 64MB to 128MB. However, there is a drop-off after that, increasing your RAM
128-256 or 512 will not increase to a 50 or 100 percent. There will be some
Improvement but not at those levels.

So, how much RAM is enough … If you are still using Windows 95 or 98, you can probably survive on less than 64MBRAM that your computer may stop responding somewhat sluggish. However, if you install one of the newer operating systems like Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you'll need at least 128 MB of RAM for the operating system, it is the absolute minimum. But to understand this, after using 2000 and XP for some time, you will know that it is not nearly enough.

128 MB RAM have you pulling your hair (hair, have you … I do not know) after opening a few applications such as word processing orYour favorite spreadsheet program to program. To really optimize Windows 2000 and XP, I recommend at least 512 MB RAM, more if you can afford it …
